April 2021

<< CLAIRE >>

This month we are focusing on Claire, the strong, resourceful, take-no-prisoners heroine of the story. Despite having black hair and blue eyes in the TV series, the author of Outlander described Claire as having a wealth of unruly curls of light brown hair and golden eyes, like that of a leopard. When Roger meets Claire for the first time, he describes her eyes to be the colour of well-aged sherry. In later parts of the series, after Claire has returned to Jamie and many years have passed, Jamie tells Claire he likes her graying hair, sharing “the way the light hits it, like a piece of silver at midnight”.

My goal with the April skein is to marry the visual depiction of Claire that we see on television with the literary description created by the novels and characters. To that end, you may see chestnut, silver, midnight blue, topaz, black, brown and gold make appearances in this colourway.

Each skein is hand dyed in our smoke free workshop in small batches using professional acid dyes and high quality yarn. No two skeins are identical, even if they come from the same dye lot; a feature that lends to their beauty!

While I try to ensure accuracy in my photos, it is possible that colours make not be exactly as shown due to variances on computer and portable device screens.

For best results and to avoid colour bleeding, it is suggested to handwash in cool water and lay flat to dry. Do not use bleach and do not iron.

All efforts are taken during production to ensure this yarn is colourfast, though it is possible for hand-dyed yarn to bleed minimally in the first few washes. To help prevent this, always wash in cool water.
